La reprise de Cabaret Canaille
…I’
ve just realized that I’ ve been taking part of the drama option for one year
now….. one year…I’ m an “old one” now!!..
This year, we
began drama on the 10th of September, with a new group of…38
people!!! I guess 38 actors on stage is something we’ll never see anywhere else!
This first day was very strange, because there were so many new members! Our
first work was the revival of Cabaret Canaille, our last play. But make
that play revive without the “very old ones” was strange at the beginning…it
wasn’ t the same team…but days after days (or wednesdays after wednesdays), “the
new group” became “THE group”, and actually the arrival of all the new members
made me remembers when I discovered the work of the drama option, and how I
immediately loved it.
After a few lapses of memory, a first “passage of energy”, after the
reappearance of our wonderful costumes, and relaxation moments on a so expected
NEW CARPET (a green one of course), Cabaret Canaille was back!…
But actually we only resumed the chorus scenes, and so the fact that we didn’ t
make revive the whole play was very frustrating!
We had our first rehearsal on the 22nd of October at the Plessis
Castle, where we acted the full Cabaret Canaille on the 29th
of May…There, we had our first public…and after two spinnings, we were on
holiday!!!…
The week of resuming school, from the 3rd to the 8th of
November, our Italian and Rumanian partners came to Tours for the Comenius
Project. The Italians had worked on a choreography about the metamorphosis of
life, the Rumanians had worked on Rhinoceros by Eugène Ionesco,
and the French team had worked on the text of Philémon et Baucis.
All the week, they worked for a pooling of their different works, which ended by
a beautiful presentation at the Plessis Castle.
We resumed our work on the 5th of November ( only two after the
revival!) in front of foreign public.
And then came the 7th of November : the day of the revival…I arrived
at 17h15 at the Plessis castle where everybody was evacuating their stress
…blowing bubbles…..We were so excited so we made a little too much noise…Just
before the presentation, the foreign and the new members discovered José, also
known as “the Bearded”, who told us to be very concentrated and to have fun…
Then the Comenius Team presented her work, but we weren’ t able to see it…:(
After that, we had to go down the endless “stairs of the fear”, to touch the
pompon of Max the seaman
to, finally, arrive on stage!
Actually, it was the presentation of our way of work, so José was there to stop
us a few times to make our acting go better. We made it twice, without
forgetting that it was a goodbye to the “very old ones” who took part to the
revival with us…
Now, we are going to enter a new adventure called…
We already have worked a little on this subject,
but the best is going to arrive!…
